This event has been all over the South African press since before it even happened!
David Tlale (a leading South African fashion designer) held his fashion show during Joburg Fashion Week recently on the Nelson Mandela Bridge in the Joburg CBD.
It was a big deal because:
a. A show on a bridge has never been done before.
b. He showcased 92 designs (one for each year of Mandela's life)
c. He had celebs from South Africa and U.S.A modeling some of his designs.
The haters have been all over the fact that his show started two hours late (at midnight).
But you have to give props to Tlale for his vision and for putting together so many garments. Nothing is ever perfect...and if the only problem people can complain about is that it started two hours late...then we can expect even bigger and greater things from this innovator.
One can only wonder how he plans to top this next season!
