Whatever your feelings about pornography, there is a huge market for this kind of publication.
It is promoting itself though as being less nudity and more 'romance'. One can only assume this has to do with the fact that South Africa is a conservative market. Full on nudity will not go down well here.
And it seems South African men are more sophisticated and want more from their magazines. More health, cars, money articles etc. This audience is getting hard to please and publications like Playboy have to compete with other men's magazines like GQ and FHM that give more well-rounded reading.
So let's see if the 'new and improved' Playboy will be able to read their market and stay in the game this time.
