On 9 March 1956, thousands of South African women of all races marched on the Apartheid government's Union Buildings in protest against the Pass Book laws that forced people of colour in South Africa to carry this ID book with them at all times so that the authorities could keep track of their movements and prohibit people of colour from residing or going to certain areas that were for 'Whites Only'.
Though this day is special to South African women, we wish all women around the world a Happy Women's Day!!!!!!!
