South African Reggae legend, the late Lucky Dube, will be paid tribute to at The Live in Concert Worldbeat Cultural Center in San Diego, California.
His daughter Nkulee Dube, reggae and ethno-soul, artist will be performing.
Dube was born in Ermelo, South Africa in 1964. Though his music career did not begin with reggae, it was this genre that gave him a huge African and international following. He was particularly popular during Apartheid South Africa because his music spoke to the plight of the oppressed black people.
Sadly, Dube passed away in 2007 during a hijacking incident. But, his music continues to live on with his fans. And shortly after his death, South African musicians of all genres came together to form the 'Shout' Campaign against crime in South Africa, in memory of Lucky Dube.
