Giant Leap for Black Models??

A couple of years ago, Italian Vogue magazine published a landmark issue using only black models. It was supposed to be a protest against the magazine publication industry not using enough black models in its' editorials and adverts.
There isn't a lack of black models; they just are not used enough because most magazine's do not feel that black models represent their readership.
What Italian Vogue did was brave. However, it would have been more significant to just increase the number of black models it hires for every issue, instead of publishing one 'black' issue.

Recently, designer label giant Louis Vuitton has hired a black model as its' new face. More significantly, this model is African. Nyasha Matonhodze is originally from Zimbabwe, in Southern Africa. Maybe Nyasha's new gig will open up other big opportunities for African models.
