Interview with Moka Blue

There are millions of artists, across the world, that are trying to make it in the game. Many are talented and hard-working. But it is a sad fact that few will 'make it'. On a daily basis, Melodi interacts with such artists and DJ's. Through our interactions with them, we are pretty sure that we have figured out what makes an artist rise above the rest. Humilty. A lot of artists are all about hype; talk without substance.

Thing is, just because you are a superstar in the town you grew up in, does not necessarily mean you will take the world. Hype is not a bad thing, but being able to match the hype with vision is key. Minor successes should be the stepping stones to even greater achievements. Case in point: MOKA BLU. When we first connected with her, we thought; mad cool chick. We would love to feature her on our site. She exudes greatness. It was only after she agreed to interview with us did we discover that she has shared stages with heavyweights like Lady Gaga and Rick Ross. She never has to brag. She knows who she is, where she is going, and how she is going to get there. And soon, when other artists are bragging about sharing the stage with her, Melodi will have called it!

When did you realize you had rapping/singing talent?

I knew I had musical talent when I was a lil girl repeating every song on the radio.

Not many female rappers make it why do you think that is?

The game is a male dominated industry.

Which artist are you most inspired by? 

I am most inspired by Lady GaGa.

What inspires your music?

Life inspires my music. My every day interactions and very interesting childhood.

Tell us about your new single.

My new single "CURFEW" is a pop club record that im about to drop, its definately a summer hit.

Which artist would you like to collabo with?

I would like to collab with a couple of great artist but right now I would definately do a collabo with Jadakiss.

What are the biggest obstacles you have faced in your career so far?

No obstacles so far. (Knock on wood)...lol

What is your 5- year plan for your career?

Year one: GRIND. Year 2: GRIND. Year 3: GRIND. Year 4: GRIND. Year 5 you already know GRIND.

What is the best life advice you have ever recieved?

Don't be afraid to push the envelope. Dream bigger and never give up on what you believe in.

If you were stuck on a deserted island what is the one item you would want to have with you?

KEVIN HART...LMAO

Describe your dress style in one word?

Comfortable.

What has been your greatest achievment in life?

My greatest achievement in life is not allowing my troubled childhood in the foster & group homes dictate my future.

What has been your best performance so far?

My best performance so far was when I toured with Rick Ross.
