On Saturday, singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home in London at the age of 27.
Amy is famous for her bluesy, soulful voice. A few years ago, she exploded onto the international music scene with her hit 'Rehab'. After years of poppy, sweet-voiced, commercial female-artists, Amy revived people's love of women with powerful voices and stories to tell. She was rightly compared to greats like Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday.
Though her passing comes as no surprises because of her history of substance abuse and her recently cancelled European tour, it was still devastating to learn of her passing at such a young age. She was the same age as Cobain and Hendrix at their deaths.
While all her fans were hoping she would one day release new material, we will have to be satisfied with what she has already given us, great music that will still be relevant and catchy years from now.
