Yesterday, South African struggle icon Kader Asmal passed away.
It has only been a few weeks since South Africans mourned the loss of another icon, Albertina Sisulu.
So it is with great sorrow to realise that those who gave us our freedoms are now leaving us.
Prof. Asmal was born in 1934 in what is now KwaZulu Natal, a province of South Africa.
He will be remembered for his contributions to the Anti-Apartheid struggle, his moral strength, his fearlessness and his service to his country.
