Out of 87 contestants the beautiful Alexandra Robershaw was chosen. This girl is gorgeous; she does not need a lick of make-up or an expensive Indian weave to look good. Her prizes include a Woolworths winter and summer 2011 campaign and a two-year contract with Boss Models.
All the contestants were gorgeous, but Alexandra is one of those natural beauties; the kind that makes a room come to a stand-still when she walks in.
Other than the prizes, the competition is an excellent platform for new, inexperienced models.
But beyond what the competition means for the models, Elle magazine has always been at the forefront of the fashion industry in terms of fashion publications, and it seems Woolworths is using this competition to promote itself as more than just a carry-all store.
In recent years it has moved away from just selling the trusted fashion basics like the classic white T-shirt.
It has started retailing more fashionable, trendy items while maintaining the good quality that it has always been known for.
Through projects like The New Talent Fresh Face Winner, Woolworths is positioning itself as a leading fashion retailer for style-conscious, chic women of all ages.
It's marketing team is doing an excellent job (they have had African fashion icon Alek Wek model for one of their ad campaigns recently). This is a brand to watch out for and it won't be surprising if it totally overtakes all other fashion retailers and department stores in South Africa in sales and popularity.
